You need to wait till its been harvested then give it a couple of weeks for the frost and rain to do its job of turning the left over beet tops mushy then they will hammer it mate! the most pigeons ive ever seen at once were on beet tops literally 3000+ on one field a few years back not my permission though, typical! keep your eye on it.
