  4. Rather not have the hols, sick pay, van and earn £47000 they're paying in Nottingham. I know lads working in London making a lot more than that. It's the reason I spent three years at college and spent at least ten years becoming proficient, working in **** conditions and all weathers with no union backing. There are companies paying close to 27000 for unskilled labour. I know I'm biased but the manual skilled labour force in this country should be paid what they're worth and if you're a fully qualified, time served tradesman/ craftsman you're worth a damn sight more than £27000!
  5. Still a shocking wage IMHO for a fully qualified tradesman working an eight hour day in 2016.I was earning £25000 in 1999
  6. sorry mate i only roughly guessed it ,,, I've worked it out properly now, it's actually £82.49
  7. Not really, if you work it out,,, take off the tax and NI it works out at roughly £76 per day take home.
  8. If they want to make £70 per day on him (which is a lot!) and hes capable of earning the company £180 per day and he wants a van and holidays then i would work it out like this: Taking into account the running costs on a van at £10 per day. 22 days holiday loss at £180 per day then: 180 X 5 = 900 pw 900 x 52 = 46800 per year 46800 - 2600 (van) = 44200 44200 - 3960 (loss to company for holidays) = 40240 (70 per day profit = 18200 anual profit) 40240 - 18200 = 22040 divided by 52 weeks = 423.85 £423.85 per week divided by 5 days = £85 per day, on the books with van, holiday pay and bank holidays. Which to be honest is a very low amount. Think your company needs to re-evaluate their profit mark up if they want to keep decent lads on!
  9. No it means he earns the firm £180 and the firm makes £70 per day profit on him by paying him £110. Overheads and insurances will come out of the profit they make on his wages.
  10. In my opinion it totally depends on his 'worth', if the boss wants to make ie £30 per day off him and the chap is capable of doing £180 worth of work per day then pay him £150. It doesn't matter what qualifications he has its all about what he can earn the company and he should be paid accordingly. Once you decide his 'worth' deduct a fair amount for the running costs of a van plus the time lost to the company through holidays and make him a decent offer based on that.
  11. Imagine you tell him and he offers you a lot less, then in a few weeks you find that the car youve had off him has a fault and he wont honour the warranty,, you'd wish you hadnt said anything! The way i look at it is: he's the professional car man and he should check the car over before he agrees to the part ex and make an offer based on what he sees/ finds,,, if he doesn't see a fault thats his problem 'you're not a mechanic'. A friend of mine works at a car dealership and he reckons they will do the bare minimum to get a car running well enough to sell, so fill it with coolant and play them at their own game.
  12. 115 over rape stubble 5hrs on saturday
  13. Ive been thinking about this for a while now and would like to give a new shooter an opportunity on the pigeons on my permissions. I realise how hard it is to get into the sport and how difficult getting the advice can be sometimes. Im no expert but think i could help. Like i said, this is an opportunity for a day out on MY permission, not permission to shoot whenever you like, not to share the permission, would just like to give something back and any advice i can share. I shoot over three farms covering just over 2500 acres in nottinghamshire. This is not a ''''first time try it and see if i like it'''' thing, you will need your own kit, hide, gun, transport, cartridges, magnet etc. i will meet you, take you out, help you set 'your' kit up and sit with you in the hide and share what knowledge i have. Let me be very clear,,,, this is not me offering just anyone a day on the pigeons! So please don't waste yours or my time those of you who cant be bothered to try and get your own perms, those with years of experience new to the area or those shooters who just want a day on other ground It is purely for those who have recently got into the sport and who are serious about it but have little knowledge. PM me with details, who you are, where you live, age, experience etc. Mark.

  15. It was £48000 but hes a multi millionaire therefore bargain! HOW MUCH???
  16. I wouldnt! Too much like hard work, plus birds will inevitably fly over the hide before landing, see you in the hide and flare off!
  17. I had a lwb maverick 2.7dFuel economy = 27mpg Reliability = brilliant. Only prob i had in 4 years on a P reg with 143000 was water pump, easy fix Off road = fantastic! Go anywhere, loads of ground clearance. Now got a swb terrano 2.4 petrol Rear prop shaft went, easy fix again.... £40, 4 bolts, half hour! Great motors for money. Long wheel base..... All rear seats fold down completely. There was literally more room in back than i had in back of caddy van! Has timing chain aswell so no changing belts! And no rust!

  19. Don't worry about it mate, you will NOT find a Raven within 200 miles of Boston!
  20. Don't know if i agree? As far as I'm concerned anyone on this site should be confident and competent enough to dispatch a wounded deer especially a Roe!As for ringing the vet..... The thought of waiting poss 45 mins for him to arrive whilst watching the poor deer thrashing about on the floor with broken limbs and internal injuries, i think i would be physically sick! As for distress....... It has already been smashed by a car, it is in as much distress as its ever going to be! So (with a Roe) drag it behind a hedge and put it out of its misery!
