GunGuy Posted December 16, 2012 Report Share Posted December 16, 2012 Hoping somebody on here can help me..... I have just put two spots on the front of my l200 (03 plate). I understand that the system is a switched earth principal and after digging about on the Internet I have managed to wire the lights direct to the system so I can have spots on with main beam and off with dipped. But... What I want to do is fit an internal switch so I can switch the spots off if I dont want them on with main beam. I tried this with a three terminal illuminated switch ( 'acc' 'power' and earth ) and all I have managed to do is blow three of the fancy cartridge type fuses on the lighting circuit! mrwabbits Posted December 24, 2012 Report Share Posted December 24, 2012 You need relay fitting to take the power surge ,, otherwise you will find that the contacts on the stalk will arc amd burn out and fail ( indicator stalk - dim/dip/flash).
