welsh1
He is my gun dog,and lives for the sound of the keys opening the cabinet, but he is also a pet to my wife and sons when I am not there, and I can chat to him about most things,so he is a working dog/pet/pal/and all round companion, who is like a shadow most of the time. GW80
My spaniels are working dogs and if i didn't work them i don't think i'd have them to be honest. Love them to bits but couldn't keep them as pets!!
suboff04
I wouldn't say our lives completely revolve around our ESS but...my work productivity has dropped according to my wife. He loves working, sleeping in the van, watching a movie with the family, moving our shoes around the house but most of all out with me and a gun of course! TJ91
The young lab I have now had very little training before she came to me at 18months, she is now nearly 2 and has become my best friend, I don't leave the house without her. She is a pet, loves to hide my socks and is very happy watching tv with me, she is happiest when out in the field though, she was not interested in picking any fur or feather when she came and was unsure of the gun. She is now a different dog and will retrieve anything (in a fashion). A long way from a trained gundog but she has bags of character and puts a smile on my face everyday..also infuriates me at times but I wouldn't change her for the world! jamesneale89
both but more a working dog and foremost a wildfowlers dog! she only stays in house as our garden is horrendous in the rain so chance of building a kennel itll be under water everyweek! but whens shes not working shes constantly training in the off season to keep her sharp , a lot of people tend to let thier dogs go during off season putting on weight and not revising training , its funny first shoot of season with dogs running all over and whistles blasting whilst mines sat next to me looking up thinking " what are these numpties doing!"
