39TDS
Top one is my BRNO Mod 2 which have had for nearly 40 years. Bottom one is my new CZ452 Scout which I have had for 4 hours. Fits in the truck nicely
Sx3 clay breaker
Looks nice mate needs a scope tho
39TDS
I have been in my shed having a go with it. Only 25 yards, iron sights and poor lighting, but groups well. Could easy head shoot rabbits at that range with just irons on it. I do have a new Hawke Eclipse 8x56 that I could use, but the scope is bigger than the gun. Only tried Winchester subs and RWS subs, seems to slightly favour the RWS.

39TDS
Here we go, much better picture. Hawke 8x56 scope on it. Very nice sights with a good picture through them, biggest problem is that it I can't focus it for short ranges. The gun will be used for lamping out of my 4x4 mostly and the usual ranges are probably around 30yds maximum. I am a fruit and veg grower and the rabbits sit in the apple, strawberry or gooseberry rows etc. Quit a bit different than lamping across a grass field where you get greater distances. I did try with the sight on last night. Only 3 rabbits out and could only shoot at one of them, well I would have if I could see it. It was too close for the sight and I couldn't see it through it. Next trick is use the open sights instead, at short range they should be fine. Quicker to find the target too.
ozzy518
If you get a pair of high mounts you can use either the scope or iron sights
39TDS
I think I will just use the iron sights for now. There is possibly going to be an issue with not being able to actually see the sights (rather than see the rabbit) with it being dark and in my truck. High scope sights would put them even more in the shadows. See how we go on. I'm 48, been shooting rifles pretty much since i could walk and still feel like a kid with a new toy. R_Hawlwy
Is it not worth trying to reparrallex the scope for the range you want to shoot?
39TDS
Unless I am doing something wrong I can't refocus it to short range. I guess a 8x50 scope is for further away.
39TDS
I took my old sights off the BRNO, bought some new mounts and put them on the Scout. A bit of playing and got some reasonable results. Just a pity about the "flyer" with the Winchesters, that was the very last shot. 35 yards because that is where the rabbits usually are when lamping. Redgum
all those groups will be good for head shots at that range, my CZ groups just slightly better with the eley's though at 75yds.
