Kikkan
Hi Guys! Just wanted to tell you about my last hunt (Saturday 07.10.06) Woke up at about 07:30 and was on the field about 08:30. When i arrived, i saw like 60-70 geese on the field! I loaded my shotgun with a cupple of 36 gram 3-shoots. The geese where feeding on the field, and i could not stalk them from behind because the reilroad fences surrounding the field. I had no other opportunity than the "Idiot approach" (Walk towards the geese whistling with the gun behind my back) But guess what... it worked! I got close enugh to hit one....The only problem was that he did not die straigt away and flapped arround on the field. He tryed to get to the river and just as the goose jumped in the river, i gave him a secon blast that ended him. The only problem was now i could see my dinner floating down the river (fast) My first goose, and i lost him The day ended with 1 goose (That i lost) 1 Crow 1 seagull 12 pigeons The thing that amaized me abit was the some of the pigeons had acorn inside them. I did not think a pigeon could swallow a huge nut like that! Now my bag is 93 pigeons this year... just hope i can shoot 7 more for my redlettersesson Happy hunting guys! They love them, with a crop full of those they are bulletproof!
Cranfield
Nice report Kikkan, shame about the goose. I have shot pigeons so full of acorns their crops were solid. Not only is it dificult to work out how they can fly that full of "heavy" food, but I have often wondered how long it takes for an acorn to be digested.
