Stalking a Warren...

So, you want to clear as many bunnies from a corner of a field as you can...

The only tool at your disposal is a rifle...

How do you do it...?

Set up and wait, hide or no hide, in a truck or not, upwind or don't matter, one sitting or keep coming back, day or night...?

I would say sit up in the truck in daylight.when it gets dark hit them hard with the lamp at night..

But I think your best option of sport would be to put a ad on here for someone local to ferret the warren. you would not regret it safe quiet and effecient way of rabbit clearence at this time of year

I'd sit and wait as well. Truck or on foot, whichever. If its a hedge always try to shoot into the hedge from the field rather than sit in the hedge shooting along it. At this time of year many rabbits barely venture out of cover. With lamp or NV you'll pick up loads of eyes within the hedge itself which you wouldn't see shooting parallel.

I've never used a hide. Its movement that gives you away. I expect most action will be after dark though at this time of year.

Never had much luck with the sit and wait technique with bunnies, find it best to go out late evening when you can see the rabbits feeding through the bino's. Stealthy approach from down wind, keeping low and below the skyline behind you so you don't have silhouette. Take a few that way then leave it until after ten pm and go back with the lamp or NV. Once you have had a bit of sport get a mate in with the furry critters if you really want em gone.
