Davyo
Would also like some info on these, seen some stuff on youtube, but there are threads that say when it's really cold thay take an age to turn on or get bright, and the batteries die rather quickly (there is a sub zero model but threads also say it hasn't improved the turning on thing in cold weather if this makes sense) Edited January 11, 2013 by Davyo
al4x
Its a lot of money your best bet would be a NM800 and buy the green LED if you want that with the option of changing to other colours as well
Bangon
I had one , used it once then sold it, Load of rubbish to be honest. Its hard to define objects or guess ranges etc. I found the colour green when your looking at green things ie hedges woods, grass a bit of a pain. Dead Eye Dunc
Sorry to bump an old thread but I just got an ND3 sub zero and thought my findings might be of interest to some. I've only taken it out once but I found it very useful when combined with a traditional lamp. We used it hand-held rather than mounted to the scope. The rabbits, foxes and a deer I pointed it at didn't spook at all. Resulting in severel dead rabbits and a dead fox too. I'm new to lamping but I noticed that none of the animals seemed to 'spook' as much as with the lamp. I think it will be useful when mounted to the scope using the lamp for an initial sweep and then the ND3 through the scope to take the shot. The widest beam washed out a little restricting range to ~150 yards but it's worth noting the moon was very bright so in darker conditions this may not be the case. The most focussed beam puts a clearly visible dot on the roof of houses in the next village accross (goes without saying, don't try this with it mounted to the gun please!) which is just over a mile and a half away. Is it any better than a gun-mounted light with a coloured filter the quarry isn't used to? I don't know but no buyers remorse for me yet. I'll update if my feelings change.
