Has anyone booked a trip through www.solwayshooting.co.uk?

A friend of mine has booked on a four day trip (Thurs - Sun) in December and I was wondering if anybody has got any tips or experiences they'd like to share. Apparently the Geese are real high over the Marsh?

We also get to go Rough shooting and inland Duck flighting.

Cheers :)

I think it is a little selfish of you not to invite the one person who introduced you to wildfowling. :):lol:

I am sure you will enjoy it.

I only got invited at the last minute mate, but if it's any good, we can always go up next year, trouble is you really need six people to fill the quota. And you and I don't have many friends :)

I think the lot I am going up with all go for the craic and the drinking in the evening anyway. If I have my way we'd be out allday and night.

Don't worry about Sunday, mate, I enjoyed getting up earlier and the drive down. Actually got invited pigeon shooting in the afternoon on Melv's field. Had seven shots for none, although one I definitely hit (Feathers everyway) and yet it flew on, i watched it for about 1/4 mile across the valley and it still didn't fall.

Stopped shooting the Solway nearly 20yrs ago, started to get to commercialised. Don't know if it's still ongoing, we joined the Wigtown Wildfolwers who had a good lenght of the foreshore.

Ended up car loads, some with semi auto's, still had the crease in the Barbour Jackets. One time, believe it or not, a 48 seater bus pulling up dropping half a dozen at a time off.

Don't want to be part of that outfit, & never will. That was the end of it, last time we went.

Jez, looks like I might need a Milan Anti Tank or Stinger missle to hit these Geese then. I don't honestly know which side of the Solway we are going although guessing it's the english side as we are shooting geese on the Sunday am before heading home.

If it is the Scottish side, i don't mind as never been to Scotland, so it will be a first.

Don't like the sound of bus loads turning up to shoot, no wonder the gesse are high. Not exactly sporting either, typical of some people looking to get rich quick without a care for the environment.

6am this morning as I was pulling off the drive to go to work a small skein of 10 greylags flew no more than 25 yds above my head and promptly landed on the field behind no more than 30 yds out from my back garden. Why does it always happen that you either don't have your gun or haven't got time when things like this happen?

Martin, it's your fault that I get the shakes when I see Duck or geese. By the way had the first goose last night from opening day, only two more to go. Very nice, tasted abit like liver and then again abit like a not so rich venison.

SS wants a couple of mallard for his dinner. time to go out again. Promise I won't get stuck this time, honest :good::D
