The Essex Hunter
I went out with a mate this evening on foot due to the tracks being so soft. He usually shoots from a platform on his 4x4 so shanks pony and a set of quad sticks were something different to say the least. He did glass a couple of rabbits early on but said “ I will have to practice a bit more” There are quite a few rabbits on the land and we were expecting to see a few sets of eyes as this land has only been shot once in a long time. The first fox came out behind us as I turned around with the lamp! With the wind the wrong way we let it trot off until he came to a stop at a good distance! Off with the amber filter to sharpen up the long shot….whack from the 75gn round and 235yards up the slope laid a good size dog fox. Nick said there not bad your sticks I will have to make a set!! The second was a vixen was around 110 yards so quite a good evening and home by 9!! TEH
