dadioles
I came across this leaflet on the animalaid web site and thought it was well written and worth a read. http://www.animalaid.org.uk/images/pdf/booklets/opposeshooting.pdf

rustybucket
I took the time to read it all, some of it was very well informed and lots of it was pure cow droppings

Little_Dom
would'nt even wipe my ***** with it purely one sided and only shows (what they think) are negative aspects of our sport
robbiep
Yes, a lot of it is absolute male cow droppings. Even so, useful to read it. Know your enemy, and the weapons he uses. Learn how to neutralise them, so that the 'neutrals' don't become the 'antis'

BADFEET
IMHO things like this should not be ignored, it's the tip of an iceberg this type of propaganda
dadioles
It is interesting to read the slightly arrogant, heads buried in the sand, responses of some of you so far. Like it or not, this leaflet informs the views of the general public and we would do well to take note of its contents. Of some concern is the way it answers a lot of the questions often posed by less experienced shooters in this and other shooting forums. How often do you read here posts from shooters who simply do not know the law as it relates to their shooting activities. The leaflet explains, for example, the terms of General Licences, shooting near footpaths and Rights of Way, the law on trespass, night shooting etc. It is written clearly and factually in laymans language and acknowledges that a lot of the laws relating to shooting are archaic and unclear, definition of "occupier" for example. There is a handy guide to the various shooting organisations included within it. Of course the leaflet is biased against us, for a start it is titled "How to Oppose Shooting" and that is a bit of a clue! Many of the concerns expressed in the leaflet are not at all unreasonable so open your minds a bit and remember that we are in the minority and need to be seen to behave with respect for the views of other members of society. Richie10
Respecting the views of the majority would mean it being banned. All because the majority sit in their houses making uninformed opinions on stuff they have no interest or experience in doesn't mean we have to respect their views. Respecting their views has meant that we are being restricted. Look at France they just get on with things without having to listen to the anti's. The fact that the anti's have a platform to spill their rubbish, the bbc, is the problem.

I'm not saying we should ignore it. I've posted information about these things in detail in the past because I feel that it should be brought to the attention of as many shooters as possible. It is full of rubbish, but it is the only side the general public seem to be getting. It's about time BASC et al did something to counter it. Respecting the views of the majority would mean it being banned. The fact that the anti's have a platform to spill their rubbish, the bbc, is the problem. I don't think a majority oppose shooting. Most people in the UK are meat eaters and they realise that they cannot have legitimate concerns about shooting when they eat meat. That's why BASC et al focus on campaigns supporting game meat - it is the main defence we have. Edited January 18, 2013 by Reece
