bazzab
Hi all. I have a stock that has been lovingly oiled. It looks cracking but I've decided to stain and tru oil it. So can anyone advise me best way to remove the oil from the stock? Many thanks. Bazza.

bazzab
Ah i thought nitromors was for stain/paint stocks. Not for linseed type oils?? I have searched already bud and no one mentions stock that have been stripped and oiled that i can see.
welshwarrior
I use an oil and wax stripper for B and Q works great I find nitromorse better on varnish than oil finishes.
subsonicnat
getting the oil from your Stock or fore-end can be accomplished by using damp lime, leave it a few days inside in the warm, as it dries it pulls the oil you were too lazy to take care not to get it on the wood, it will suck it out..obviously if its years old No.. but if you wanted to glue the wood back together, yes it will work, rub chalk on it to get the surfaces dead flat too. PS: EDIT:::: if you do this to your barrels it will get the oil out of the metal too, for re-blueing them: Do not touch it with even the hairs on your hand it will put grease back on them: Damp Lime, (Paste) Put on Barrels and let Dry: (ABSOLUTE DEGREASE METAL)::::: Edited January 26, 2013 by subsonicnat

May be wrong though
