JDog
On part of the new estate which I have taken on to control the pigeons there is a field of about 20 acres of unharvested linseed. The area has a good population of pigeons at the moment. The crop is standing well. I have been watching the field for the last month now and I have yet to see a pigeon go to it. It is full of pheasants and 'tweety' birds but there is not a pigeon to be seen. I note that other guns have had good bags on unharvested linseed this year and I have just been watching 'Topgunners' have a very good day on linseed back in November I think it was. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this crop has been avoided by the pigeons?
Cranfield
It is a very popular crop with the pigeons in my area. I can only assume there is no food value left, or they have better options elsewhere. However, as I am sure you know, its hard to second guess pigeons sometimes.
