pegleg31
Holly, about 5 months old and in my opinion is coming on great. Heels, sits to the whistle also while out to handle (only back at this point). steady to dummies and I've just started to introduce some hand signals and memory retrieves. Fern, hollys sister and completely the opposite. Very timid and submissive, completely the opposite from when I went to pick them. Walks lovely to heel on the lead and sits as soon as I stop. Only problem is, when I take the lead off all she does is sit . Totally lacks confidence and needs loads of encouragement and handling with care
lee-kinsman
I thought heel was the last thing you should teach a spaniel otherwise they end up sticky and lacking in confidence. I'd personally let Fern run around exploring where she wants for a few months and start her training when she's got some of her own confidence. pegleg31
Never thought of it like that. I'm stubborn so like to instill some manners into a dog first. Never had a problem yet getting a dog to hunt ( I've got five cockers now) as i get them straight onto live game ( pigeons are ordered) but I'm always willing to take on board advice. Everything for fern at the moment is fun so even if she misbehaves asking as some positives come out of it I'm not to bothered. The pigeons are for holly as she coming on well but I think I'll try fern on them now thanx russ
kent
The trick is not being a one trick pony, train them all different. Both my kids are the same breeding but need handling in very different ways. No different with dogs.
daztheman
hi what cracking looking pups what lines are they from & did you breed them yourself. Daz

WGD
Nice looking pups, interesting how different they are. I agree with heel work, I once let a spaniel pull me around until it was about 9 months... never did sort that out properly over the rest of the dogs life. I'm a bit undecided about live game quite as early as that but it depends very much on the dog and what you want to achieve. You'll have your own way of doing it, as do I. Keep us posted. pegleg31
hi what cracking looking pups what lines are they from & did you breed them yourself. Daz To be honest they're not brilliant lines and I payed more for them than I would've for top bred trialling pups from a mate, but my partner has a dog from and earlier litter which i like and thought I'd have a go with them and see what I can do. So far I'm happy, I'll try and get a copy of the certificate up if I can figure out how too. Russ
