NGhost
The 223 should be back from the gunsmiths soon. Now which moderator to put on? I am staggered at the price of a tube with baffles in. The saco rf that I have was about 20ish pounds but a cf copy was £150. once you go for the likes of the reflex its almost 200. The hushpower people do one for £98.50 (last year it was £77! ). Any one seen any thing cheaper?
neil
All the ones that i have seen have been quite pricey this has been made worse by the fact that all moderators now have to be proof tested(probably explanes the rise in the hushpower price)
.223
my dad has a moderator on his .308 and is deciding whether to have one on his .223 so i would be gratefull to know how you get on with it. and is your moderator one that slides down the barrel and screws on down the barrel so it only extends the lengh 0f the barrel a couple of inches or one that screws straight to the end of barrel. NGhost
I havn't got mine yet but as the refex needs fitting to the gun, I will more than likly get screw on type like you have on a rimfire. I have been told that the 223 will sound like a rimfire with no moderator on. Every one I know that uses one has had them put on all their guns. rjimmer
Don't forget that you can make the noise of the shot quieter, but you can't silence the bullet crack if it is travelling faster than sound.
reynard895
All the ones that i have seen have been quite pricey this has been made worse by the fact that all moderators now have to be proof tested(probably explanes the rise in the hushpower price) As of last year, sound moderators do not need to be proofed, contact Jackson rifles that supply the reflex range of moderators, thanks to him and some others, you do not need to have a moderator proofed anymore. I was also told that you can own as many moderators but only when atached to the rifle does it become the one that you have on your cert, ( cant confirm if this is true, was a policeman that told me, as I say they aint the best sourse for gun related laws ) Cheers
NeVeTaS
The best is PES, not cheap but they are the daddy. I wish I had bought one before I invested in a Reflex. Here is a PES on my Anshutz
