Lesson learnt

Had a good afternoon yesterday shooting the clays, despite the atrocious weather. It was all going so well until one stand. I'm not sure what actually happened, but i'd just taken out a fine pair, emptied the shotgun, went to turn away and was struck on the head by a mighty bit of clay. It whacked my head and left me dazed and had a fair amount of blood drawn. Missed everything after that.

I got a bit of stick for playing on my injuries a bit, but it bloody hurt! The moral of the story is to wear a hat of some description and keep my goggles on, could easily of got me in the eye. Lesson learnt!

I always wear a cap or hat and glasses been hit loads off bits of clay,

My shooting buddy tried to hide behind me on a private flush shoot waiting our turn laughing as the clays just missed me, as he walked away wollop top of his forehead got it,still broke the skin through his cap and left a nice lump.

I didn't laugh honest, well not to much

Bits are very sharp and bound to put your shooting off kilter after getting hit.

I have ducked a couple of missed birds from other stands once or twice, just adds to the fun of the day. My brother got hit by a whole mini clay last year and went down like a sack of spuds, I was stood there like an idiot shouting PULL to no avail, I thought he had been shot when I looked round and saw blood all over his face  . I have to say that it took me the rest of the day to stop laughing about it .
