WGD
Gents Knowing the power of the 'watch, anyone help me with this? I dented the bumper on my six week old truck last year and couldn't face the many hundreds of pounds Nissan wanted for a replacement so I bought a cheap after market one off flea bay. As the saying goes, buy cheap buy twice and a winter on salted roads has seen it going from being a chrome bumper to being a spotty orange one. I still can't face the many hundreds of pounds Nissan want for a new one, anybody in the trade got any ideas? Registered with 1stchoice.co.uk but am wary to be honest. four-wheel-drive
I would say the first thing that you need to do is find out how long they have been making that version that you have if it was the same one on say a 2009 then you would be giving yourself a better chance of finding a s/h one that would fit. WGD
Thanks, as far as I know the D40 in that guise has been made for a while but fitting detail, bolt sizes and location may have changed year on year.... how would I get to know that? andypaint
Go to a local body shop. With either the damaged bumper or you newer one. Get the the repair and fill the dent. Then paint the area with 2k black. Sand out any orange peel. Then paint with chrome paint a lacquer to provide a durable finish. Materials would be £50 ish. stumpy69
You are best to get a stainless one, even the sevral hundred pound Nissan ones have thin crome and rust in the first winter. I think you can get one from an earlier D40 model the fitments are all the same, but if you get one pre 09 (i think) you will have to get number plate lights too as they changed the position of these. A good forum is http://www.nissan-navara.net people on there are very knowlagable and have saved me lots with their advice.
