MiLisCer Posted March 5, 2013 Report Share Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) You first step would be to join a gundog club - members have priority in the draw for runs. You will need to compete in Novice first and then "win" out of Novice - generally though a 1st-3rd place will put your dog through to the "opens" - FTW is not an official title, it is just added by owners to show that the dog has one a trial - no saying if it has won a novice or an open though. cocker boy Posted March 5, 2013 Report Share Posted March 5, 2013 If the dog has won a open trial the owner will call it a oftw. Ftw will be a novice winner. Any dog can run in opens but priority in opens is to dogs that have won a novice or had an award in previous opens. If you get placed in the top 3 in a open trial,without winning a novice first, it qualifies you to run in opens for the next two years.
