I stay in dumfries and was wondering if there are any shooting available as the number around here are not that great and wonder if its worth a drive around that area ? Don't want to step on toes just looking for a change of scenery the odd day

I was working in CD last month and there aint much activity round there right enough. im in the berwickshire area no big bags here at the moment either better in the harvest time. i have some permision around the north east, 600acre of rape and the farmer got 450acre of peas going in in april so should be good times ahead. if your fully insured, licenced and fancy a 140 mile drive get in touch. cheers fletch

Hi Marky I am a member odf a Berwick based club whose members roost shoot pigeons from February to April on estates in Berwickshire and Northumberland. Mostly we are finding pigeon scarce, last Saturday we shot an estate which once yielded over 400 in the bag with 72 for the top gun. Last Saturday the entire members in the field would be lucky to bring in treble figures, I was long gone before the count ended. Most of our other venues show a similair result and I have been awaiting seed time now for two weeks to see if it would improve the decoying situation. Unfortunately with this weather seed time still looks two weeks in the future even if it dries up tomorrow so sodden is the ground. Other places around may have more pigeon numbers but they are certainly scarce in the east.
