welshwizard
Been thinking of about buying another shottie ,something with interchaneable chokes but bit of a quandry as can,t decide A) o/u or another semi , B) fancy a 20 gauge but not sure if i will regret it C )what make Laurona,Lanber ,Browning ,Winchester ,or Berreta,Mirouku . . I,m gonna use it mostly on clays and rough shooting ,I used only 12 gauge or .410 for years then bought a Stephens 20gauge bump action about 15 years ago , tried it on a few farms I have permision on and found it as good as my 12,s but a delight to shoot ,lighter and quicker to bring on target but never tried it on clays ,i know the cartridges cost more and unless you use 3" shells(defeating the object ) your shot count is gonna be lower ,then onto the gun I,ve looked at a few ,one of which was a Browning model 525 s/h for £850 in a dealers but the stock was pretty badly marked ,although barrels and action seemed good enough , I don,t want to spend much more than this amount ,my mate has a Berreta 686 which he,s asking same for and its like new but been waiting to try it for past couple of months ,he keeps making excuse he does,nt have time etc, plus its 12 gauge again . HDAV
Go shoot a few and see what you think..... Personally I would stick to OU for clays/general shooting. The smaller bores are fashionable and as such prices hold well, some are built on 12 gauge actions so partly defeat the point. With circa £1k to spend you will be looking at used or budget new guns, used can be a better long term buy as with all fit is the key! http://www.guntrader...a&sortOrder=asc http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sale/Webley-Scott_Shotgun_920G_For-Sale_130310155415320 http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sale/Browning_Shotgun_White-Lightning_For-Sale_120320153253001 Edited March 17, 2013 by HDAV

If you added your location to your profile it would help there are deals to be had, just not always local find a local RFD (eddoakley) who may somethign instock or be able to get it and does a reasonable rate on RFD to RFD and give it a go. That W&S is a very good price i wouldnt expect it to be perfect or even still available but proves a point!
jackinbox99
How longs a piece of string really! loads & loads to choose from. If you already have a semi id not bother with another one. Unless you arnt happy with the one you have. The Beretta 686 range are cracking guns, and the silver pigeon 1 is very nice and virtually in your budget there. I was looking at a 12bore version last week and may still buy it. The browning 525 you mention is also a great gun. If you fancy spending a bit less you could always go for a lanber sporting in 12 bore. Ive got one, and actually bought it one day when I went into a shop thinking about buying a 686. The lanber just fitted me perfect and looked lovely. Id always buy 2nd hand if possible then that way you dont take that initial hit on the price. Also if you find out you dont get on with the gun in a few months time, you can probably nearly get your cash back on it by selling it on.
