Magpies and Crows

Had the HW100 out last night making sure the zero was okay when a young magpie just drops between me and the target I had been shooting at...... Well it would have been rude not to so I shot it in the head. I left it there as it was 30 yards out and I was nice and comfy so I got back to checking my zero and general plinking. About ten minutes later I stopped to refil the magazines and top up the air in the rifle when a slightly larger and plumper magpie comes squarking in and sat in a nearby tree giving it large. I mean he was well upset.... then the crows join in.... there was this magpie and about ten crows all getting hissy and making so much noice. The magpie then drops down to his dead buddy and squarks at it and then pecks it a few times. Well it would have been rude not to I gave him the same treatment. Seeing this the Crows decided to leave......

The Magpie at the top of the picture was the larger one - the other looks bigger as he is more fluffy. If you blow the picure up you will see the pellet exited through his eye - almost perfect shot.

The HW100 is in .177 and was on a bi-pod and I was prone and has the MTC Viper Connect scope.....

I love Pigeon shooting with the 12g but there is something special about hunting with an air rifle and the HW100 makes it even more pleasureable.
