You'll need to be in a rifle club really, and if you are then no problem. Though .303 is reportedly a good deer calibre, so you would probably get the calibre cleared for deer but a standard SMLE or No4 would be a bit unwieldy and a faf to fit a modern scope to. Plenty of 'sporterised' Lee Enfields around though which would be better deer rifles than a bog standard military rifle.
