Any idea why I am NOT catching any even though they are flying around the area ? Should I put some plastic decoys into as well as the call bird in a Larson Trap cage inside the Ladder Trap

I am feeding mine on dog tin food, cheap stuff from asdas - What are all of U`s feeding yours on ?

Dog or cat food is perfect..bit of bread mixed with eggs is very good aswell...nice to here lads feeding the birds properly aswell..plenty of water down aswell. Be a good idea to put an old wooden box in that trap aswell so they can shelter till you cull them.

Hi guys, well guess what was caught in Gordon & I Ladder Trap today then HMMM
A KESSIE

Gordon has let it out. Good job our call bird was in a Larson Trap inside the Ladder Trap otherwise we would have had one dead call bird.

Here is a photo Gordon sent me just before he released it straight after so it did not get too stressed out.

Our call bird has managed to escape.

Jumped out past the ladders. We have side curtains in place to prevent this but my M8 Gordon seen it jump from the floor and straight out like a rocket he says as he approached the trap to put fresh water & food into it.

Daz "RABBITER" have you got another one going spare M8

Hurray caught another one, got 2 Magpies in our Ladder Trap now. Gordon & I have worked out where we have been going wrong. We have always thought something was getting in and then getting back out. Food we would have in went every day but nothing in the trap. When we had caught 1 we swopped it around with the one in the Larsen Trap which I got off Daz "RABBITER" and let that one fly around the Ladder Trap which escaped. Gordon was walking towards the Ladder Trap when he seen the Magpie fly out & how it managed to do this is because it used the perch we provided for it to launch itself off and straight past the curtains and out through the ladders. So make sure your perch is set higher than the ladder as we have done so now + we have released both birds into the Ladder Trap and taken out the Larsen Trap incase they use this as a launch pad. Fingers crossed we shall start to catch more now.

Let this be a lesson learnt by us and now all you PW's don't make this mistake, good luck all

Cheers Olly321

BUT the celebrations are short lived. Checked the trap last night only to find 🐦 dead & the other not in the Ladder Trap. Looking at the 🐦 in would appear to have been attacked off the bigger one before it flew out. God only knows how they are getting out now.

Anyone got any ideas 😏 on how they are managing to escape 😟

Olly321 have you had any escape from yours as that is the same dimensions as ours. Have you had to alter any of the dimensions or adapted the ladder in any way ?

Gordon & I have re-jiged the ladder. Got another call bird off a M8 yesterday & guess what woopie its still in. I guess the ladder is now is ok

We have been given a Jay bird which I have put in our larger Ladder Trap on another area of the farm. I also was given a CORBIE bird which I offered to Daz "RABBITER" who asked me to get one for him but when I contacted him last night he did not need / want it so I gave it to someone else on the next farm along from my permission

Fingers crossed we should be catching some
