I have fitted a harris pod to my AAS410 today and its fine. ;) the QD stud I used was about 12-15mm deep so measure how mutch wood you have got to play with and then ring your local gun shop up and ask then to measure the depth of the threads on A QD stud.

Good luckFTS :good:

KIPPER :)

Hi mate

If you do fit a bipod bear in mind that it may alter your POI (see my other recent post).

I sometime use a shooting stick, a bi-fur pod (http://www.varmintal.com/abifu.htm), and this appears to alter my POI by about 8-10mm at 15m distance - obviously this would be greater at a further distance.

Although this would not be a problem if you ONLY ever use your rifle AND the bipod, it may cause you problems if you use the rifle withoud the pod as the POI may be distnctly different.

Cheers

Karl

  • 2 weeks later...

I've fitted slings to a s200 and I beleive a bipod can be used with Uncle Mike's studs as used. Below is an answer I give to another post about slings.

"I've recently fitted swivels and slings to a AA s200 and a AA s410 (FAC).

Uncle Mike's swivels and RWS slings (can't remember where from but will rumage in the receipts if you want me to ).

In both guns I drilled right through the fore-end wood and filled in the excess hole with wood filler, because on the 200 the wood was bulging on the inside, and then applied a couple of coats of coloured varnish to re-seal the wood, (Obviously remove from action before drilling). I also used a 10mm carpenters drill (very carefully), the type that gives a flat finish so as to seat the little plastic washers that come with the swivels. Rub a candle on the threads before starting to screw and work the thread in and out a bit at a time to avoid splitting the wood."

Like said in the piece on the 200 the fore-end is thin and when you screw the stud in it starts to bulge the wood inside if going into a blind hole, to overcome this I drilled right through and then filled it back in and sealed it as described. Uncle Mike's swivel studs come in two lengths short for front and long for stock. Just be very careful when you use the "flat finish drill".
