Buy a Scooby you know it makes sense! Phone KT green in Leeds and the dealer near you etc, often they are looking for underwrites on older / higher millage models and a willing buyer wont be sniffed at if they have any sense even if its a case of putting their client directly in touch. I have driven the legacy diesel its a bit low on ground clearance and the diesel variant is easy to stall till you get to grips with it, same 2.0 boxer engine adapted by Cosworth I think. Suspension and wheel bearings are the only real failings- oh and silly exhaust prices! Millage is largely just a number

I've got the VRs TDI, its my second one & love it.

In 73k miles its had one fault on the turbo actuator, that took a while to sort.

It averages 44mpg combined with upto 58mpg on long motorway runs.

I do a set of front tyres between 17k & 22k depending but all motorway miles on mine.

It's been fine in snow & I'd not hesitate to get another, in fact new one comes out in July so we will looking at it.

I have the DSG gearbox, which isn't great as it can be a bit to conservative unless running in sport mode. When in this mode or operated via flappy paddles it goes like a bullet...

Cheers kent the car in mention will be taking a trip yo a rolling road for a car pacific remap so throttle response torque bhp and mpg will better than factory. Im ok with exhausts wheel bearings and suspension.

Well im quite handy at repairing exhausts made a fiat one last 7 years, rebuilt and had a manta one quite a while. You have seen the spare Subaru one on the back of my,that took quit a bit of welding and manipulation to fit and clear the tyres. Engine will aslo be very simular the the van.

Yep, flat four on the floor. Use a bit of oil even when new but I cant break my Scooby 150k of extreme use so far. We miss the Impreza that car was really glued to the road. if I was buying another scoob tomorrow it would be another forester of the highest spec diesel or the Outback which is now also available in Diesel. Petrol like my Turbo really need super plus. The legacy is a bit too low for our lane
