The most usefull bit of kit would be a all in one box/bag that housed frets, nets, spade, flask and some scram. Forgot to mention that it would be convienient if it had a bw shaped side to lie against the body or be a rucksack type shape. Hope this helps and good luck. Ferretboy111
Just imagine how heavy that one bag would be with all that in, i just use a game bag for my nets, the front mesh i use for trowel, clippers, gloves, the main for nets and flask. Also use two boxes for the ferrets. Atleast with this, one can spread the weight out evenly around the body, My ferreting days are usually simple, however i want to attach a sling to my spade, and get a 4x4 so i can drive up to the warrens n leave stuff in the car. My days would be much harder if i didnt have help from 1/2 friends who come along. Alex

Thanks Jim I don't really want or need a bag Jim what I want and need is a very good looking 18 year old female that would be oh so gratefull to carry all my gear all day with a smile :o then when I get home acheing and feeling sorry for myself with thorns in my fingers :( she would run me a nice hot bath and give me a luxury wash down. Now if you can sort that I would be really gratefull I'm pretty sure you'de have yourself a million in the bank in no time with that one. thegreg
Hey all If i was to come up with some sort of design wat kind of waterials would be perfered?? plastic?? treated wood?? would a ligth box with some storage be handy?? or a box that was strong enough to support ur weigth for a seat?? Jim Hi mate, youre doing HNC mechanical? thats what im on at the mo, wish ferret box was on my list of options! might make the course a bit more interesting! right, now this may sound daft but i welded my ferret box up from 2.5mm aluminium sheet! its only a single one mind, but it is seriously strong, and way lighter than making one from wood, corrosion resistant, looks the part too. i pop rivited the hinges on and the fastners for the strap aswel, idea struck me when i was originally making a box to chuck milling cutters in, and thought it was perfect ferret size!, so made another with a hinged lid just a bit of food for thought, u dont necessarily have to stick to traditional materials Greg
Jimjim
Heya nice one mate!!! am still at the concept stages, yeah aluminium sounds good!!! wat did you use to weld it?? that techno weld stuff like solder?? was think plastic if i can get a big enough former!! jim
thegreg
the only down side to aluminium is it gets cold, and attracts condensation. iv been meaning to line mine with 3mm ply. be a bit warmer for the weasels i used a tig welder with aluminium rod to do the joints...but i have techno welded before!! suprised uv heard of it mate, its not big in industry atall, i used it when i was at school. yeah with a blowtorch and rod, the actual weld is made when u use the scraper to break the oxidised layer on the material. the one i made was actaully duralumin (aircraft alloy) but aluminium still welds it. forming wouldnt be bad, and lighter still i guess, carbon fibre would be absolutely perfect for the job, i might give that a go when i get enough of it together :( Greg
Jimjim
Heya Yeah i used it school to mate haha av never saw yet but we dont have aluminium haha, yeah fibre glass now your talking!! make a mould and form the fibre round it!! could strengthen it with branzing rods or something!! i used the techo weld for making a mechanical fishing bite indicator with the aircraft material haha could never use it properaly, the instructions say heat the aluminium sheet so the rod melts on it and not heatin the rod but the sheet always melted before the rod haha
