Gents,

About a year ago I put new pine skirting, doors ect throughout the house, follishly I didn't test a colour, I brought a ronseal light oak semi varnish, when it went on before it dried it looked like the colour I wanted.

Needless to say it dried a horrid orange colour, but by then I was commited. Now I know pine isint oak and I will never have the same finish, but I have seen pine furnitue in stores that is stained oak colour and has a more brown look to it.

My question is, what is the best way to achieve this brownish colour baring in mind I have already stained all my timber this orange colour.

Thanks in advance for any tips...

Not sure there's much you can do bar stripping it and starting again. The trouble with all in one finishes is they seal the wood you could try a second coat maybe see if you can get some tester pots see which gives the finish you want. if that doesn't work I think it could be nitromors or paint over it.
