mrmints
I've noticed on two different wildfowling videos now that the shots, when taken are really quiet! In the case of Steve0146's video of his highlights from this season, the shots are considerably quieter than the Geese!! Is this because of the cartridge used, a trick of editing or just because of the wind? Thanks for any help with this! Chris

Chris I think the man to answer that question would be Steve himself but at a guess I'd think it was a combination of camera placement and wind direction

steve0146
I'm not sure why the shots are quieter than the geese. Some are from a head cam, which being next to the gun, I would have thought would be fairly loud. Maybe its the software when editing or maybe they are really loud geese! fenntay
I have a Act20 video camera and it is the same not much of a bang from the gun, I just assumed it was a editing software thing.
ChAoS
I just assumed it was a editing software thing. I think that it's likely to be related to how the audio electronics in the camera react to *very* loud sounds. Some take an age to recover and, hence, you get a "pumph" instead of a "kerblam!". I've just taken some (PSG) video using a Philips CAM295 (see the TechMoan channel on YouTube for a review) and, while not giving the *full* "kerblam", it's definately not a "pumph", either. I'd point you at the footage but, so far, I've not worked out an easy way for me to upload it to YouTube... :( Regards, Mark.

I've tried using a few different cameras for shooting vides and some of them completely shut down at the sound of a gun shot!
ChAoS
some of them completely shut down at the sound of a gun shot! I must say that, for the price, I've been very impressed with the CAM295. On the minus side, it has neither image stabalisation nor optical zoom but, on the other hand, it's full HD and only cost 55 squid. As I say, when I can figure out a way to handle large files on my poor likkle 'Droid, you'll all be able to judge for yourselves. Regards, Mark.
