Anthony.D
Hello All, Please can you give your advice. At presesnt I have one very well trained, happy, excellent working springer. My wife's friend is ill and is worrying about what will happen to her small lurcher/whippet if the worst senario happens, God forbid. Both dogs get on well together. My wife has said that we will take care of her dog, to give her one less thing to worry about. Her dog is only slightly trained, coming to recall only when it wants etc. approx 2 years old, but nice natured. Now the question. Do I stand any chance in training it to a good standard, only one recall command and being steady etc. Thanks Anthony
lee-kinsman
I'd like to offer you an answer but don't really know anything about running dogs. However I would think that you could improve it. Hope you get a more helpful reply. ATB, Lee

karpman
Hey mate you should be fine would walk and train alone if that's an option. Don't want us springer getting bad habits lol. Karpman
Anthony.D
Thanks folks, Yes one of my main concerns was my dog picking up bad habits. For instance he stops and sits when game is flushed. A running dog is supposed to run on and catch the game. If they are both out together the Springer is going to be hacked off when he's missing out on the fun! He's going to want to run on also. washerboy
wouldnt take them out together , your well train springer will pick up bad habbits. i would try andtrain the running dog in a place were it cant run away and were there arnt game smells about. expect a little but not a lot. unless a running dog is brought up from a pup there not the easiest dogs to train to any standards. Anthony.D
It's not going to be easy is it! At the moment life is so easy, but ho hum, my problem is nothing in comparison to our friend's. The dog will have a good home. Thanks all.
