lee-kinsman
Hi, I'm looking to get a Nissan Navara 2.5 pickup aged 2005-2006. I've been looking on the internet and seeing alot of negative reviews about engines blowing up, shafts breaking. At one point Nissan recalled a batch. Is there a way to tell if the Nissan I'm interested in is of the faulty batch? Has anyone experienced any nightmares with these motors? Thanks for any help, Lee

al4x
you have to remember some have very hard lives, heavy towing gets the later models and clutches have issues. earlier ones do have the engine issues but lots have been modified or gone bang and with the reputation for doing so the value is badly affected so you can pick up bargains. AdamHall
you wont find any car that doesnt have issues with something or another they all have there own faults but from what ive read heard and experienced navaras arent great but you only ever hear from people with issues so how many dont have we will never know , but mine a d40 top spec model has only ever been a motor way car before i bought it with all history to prov no towbar etc tc hence why i bought it and ive now done about 5000 miles in it and ive had to replace clutch flywheel , injectors and fit an uprated timing chain all at only 57000 miles its not good really is it nedless to say im thinking of selling it although now ive done every thing it will probable be troulbe free for year to come lol you takes you chances at the end off the day if you were put off buy every bad think said about any car we would be driveing any off them so do you research and buy the best you can another company worth haveing a word with about navaras would be billcar enginering they seem o be th ebest secialists on them in the country
flynny
No issues on a 56 plate manual box D40, I change the oil and filter every 6 months. I bought it 2 years ago with 40.000 on the clock ,it now has 81.000, it returns 38 mpg at 70mph on a run. no issues so far (touch wood) Just stay away from the D22 they had engine problems ie con rods etc. I work at shell mate and the mechanics who test the various engines that come in to be tested say they are a good engine as long as you change the oil every 6 months and have them properly serviced as with any car. Stay away from ones with tow bars fitted and check the loading bed , if its hammered the truck has been used by a builder ect. I bought mine off a plumbing sales rep and it was and still is emaculate,( apart from the mud all over it ha ha ha ) ATB Flynny Sorry forgot to add the central locking has just started making a funny noise, but it still locks Edited May 2, 2013 by flynny
