Four misses, two hits and a little permission.

Recommended Posts

Went for another go at the rabbits tonight for a few hours with the hmr.Got set up at 1800 laid in the field ready to shoot any rabbits that showed themselves.

For an hour nothing then two just seemed to appear from nowhere and were sat outside a burrow.Took a shot and it went just to the left missing the rabbit. The shot kicked up some dust and the rabbit darted and stopped at the burrow entrance.Second shot knocked it kicking backwards into the burrow.

Waited for a while after that and a little one popped its head up and it took me four shots before i got another rabbit. It was windy and i was wondering if that was why i had missed.

Took the rabbits down to neighbouring farmers larsen trap just as he was riding into field. He told me i was ok to shoot from his side of the hedge as i would probably get more rabbits. Also said to shoot down side of a wood where rabbits are a problem as well.

So i now have a great rabbit shooting permission that should keep me busy for quite a while till i get them down to a manageable level. :) :) :yahoo:

Might be worth sticking a target up to get used to the rifle and how it performs & in the wind, you don't mention what distance your shooting but shouldn't be missing much with a hmr very accurate I find. Good result on the extra perm nice one.
