bobt
wont it be over the 750kg limit for an unbraked trailer?
ferguson_tom
It becomes a trailer so legally as its over 750kg will need to have working overrun brakes and conform with all the other rules that apply to trailers. Except if it's a recovery situation.

ferguson_tom
Cant see any reason why you couldnt as long as its not an automatic. Even if it was just put the transfer box in neutral you should be fine. By the way i have never been in a Jimny so dont even know if they have a transfer box. DaveyTed
Reading the handbook for the 2010 model with push button drive selection it says the vehicle must not be towed in 2 wheel drive with the rear wheels on the ground and all wheels must be raised if in 4 wheel drive. Assuming the earlier model is the same you will need to tow the car in 2 wheel drive with the rear raised in a spectacle frame. The book also says the steering wheel lock is not strong enough to hold the wheels straight if towed like this. Hope this helps.
