wildfowler.250
Just a quick question. I'm planing going over to a friends farm for a visit in Northern Ireland. Is it fairly straight forward to take the rifle with me as he has a fair few rabbits on the place? I'd be flying over so as long as I get a lockable case for the rifle and ammo would it be just like shooting anywhere else in the uk? PS I don't know much about the cases but is it possible to buy one that would hold the gun with the scope still mounted? Or would I have to disassemble everything? Only reason I ask is that scope mounting isn't my strongest point Cheers!

guinty1
You will also need to fill in psni form 30-15 application for certificate of approval. Cant just bring firearms into ni.
ordnance
What about Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands?Whilst Northern Ireland, The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are UK sovereign territory, visitors permits for Great Britain are not valid in those parts of the UK. Additional permissions are needed from the police authorities in those places. Anyone who wishes to take their firearms to Northern Ireland should be aware that a valid certficate of approval, from the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), is also required. Air weapons are also required to be licensed in Northern Ireland and the same approval from PSNI is necessary. Advice on obtaining the approval can be found on the PSNI website. Form 30-38 should be used by non GB residents and must be accompanied by either the original EFP or a complete copy. Form 30-15 should be used by GB residents. Maybe you already know this. Pastiebap
It's on the PSNI website and the process is fairly straightforward. Don't forget that you will need somewhere to secure the firearm and bolt as per the 2004 order and that only you should have access to this. http://www.psni.police.uk/directory/advice-and-legislation/firearms/firearm_certificate/advice_travel_information/advice_gb_residents_visiting_ni.htm Edited June 20, 2013 by Pastiebap
guinty1
Pretty easy process I have done it a few times now and it does not cost anything. It does take a bit of time through so apply well in advance.
