Hamster Posted June 27, 2013 Report Share Posted June 27, 2013 Secondary, possibly more importantly, the temperature has a big bearing on the powder ignition and will ignite faster as the barrel warms up which will increase pressure and therefore recoil. This is what I thought must be partly responsible, not so much a factor with modern powders as they're manufactured to perform across a wide temperature band but easy to imagine crude black powder early types being highly affected.
