Big Dog
I am doing some research into a diving bottle for a PCP air rifle. I haven't got the gun yet but I am looking at 2nd hand bottles and have been looking on Ebay. I am looking at either 12L or 15L 232 or 300 bar. What should I be looking our for when buying 2nd hand or on ebay?? What ££s would be about OK?? HOw much is it to get a bottle tested?? Thanks

Thanks Cost of testing of mine was £28.50 Cost of Postage was £15 Cost of the Bottle was £10 Cost of gauge to fit the air rifle was £50 So a local bottle that is tested with the correct air rifle fitting is a lot better bet if you can find one. A f/f deal will allow you a quick look before buying as well. Cheers Trev

Thanks I got a 232bar 15l Faber bottle for £125 brand new from the Diving Centre in newcastle no test needed for a few years. If buying second hand look round the boot on the base of the bottle as if it's been used for diving then the salt errosion gets in under the boot causing the metal to corrode where you can't see it. Also depending on the bottle check the neck round the valve for signs of corrosion too. Best to try and buy a one someone has only used for surface work i saw a pic of a one that went BOOM in a guys car and it was due to the bottle corroding under the boot. The car was a REAL mess and the guy was lucky he never copped it It took off like a torpedo smashed into the roof of the car out the window and down the road and smashed into a tree i beleive Here is a story of an ALLOY one exploding story 1 Quote taken from a diving site! " The explosive potential in a fully charged 80cf aluminum SCUBA cylinder is approximately 1,300,000 foot pounds " LG
