Mr Majyk
Hey all, I just picked up two sheep skins from one of my shoots for helping out with the butchering of a couple of rams dispatched by the knackerman, and id like to tan them and give one back to my land owner and was just wondering if anyone had experience with tanning hides? ive also got a couple of fox hides id like to tan. ive heard that aluminium sulphate can be used but im not sure? some help/advice would be awesome! at the moment there folded skin to skin and stored in my freezer until i know how to tan them. steve_b_wales
I use a product that's supplied by Snowdonia Taxidermy Supplies. It comes in powder form, and you mix it into two gallons of warm water. I use it for rabbit skins and fox tails. Simple to use, and it can used a few times before it needs replacing.
