henry d
Ok quick update for those who were kind enough to offer help. Loaded up some more rounds with lighter loads. All worked fine, no bolt sticking. Seems like 42 grains must have been a bit too much after all! Will run them over the chrono next time to check velocity. Thanks all. That`s a bit bizarre, my loads are higher than that (44gn) and no problems at all and I know some guys who use Amax for targets and use 45.6gn of n160. Remember that there are two types of 6.5 actions, the older military and newer commercial actions and the Speer manual has recipes for two different categories so some manufacturers may err on the side of caution. Underdog
Different bullets. Different chambers. Different barrels. Different scales. Different batches of powder and so on..... U.
Cambsman
Henry - I thought it was odd too - rifle is a new Sauer 202 so no worries on that front. I run 139grn Scenar bullets on top of 42grn N160 without problems but the Partitions seem happier with less. Still want to run them over the chrono to see velocity. I also use 120grn Amax but have had to switch to N150 to get good results. Lots to investigate and learn........ A
Underdog
Sauer 202.....friend of mine had to drop his charge when he changed his 270 Rem 700 to a Sauer many years ago ! U.
henry d
Cambsman - I use 120gn Bergers for paper punching and still get results with 160, I think I use 45/46gn for them but I`m at work and cannot check for you. Best of luck sorting it out though.
