Sako Quad

Hi roger

I've got a sako quad in 17hmr with a heavy barrel. I only got it in a heavy because most of my shooting is done from a Polaris ranger so the extra weight isn't a issue , accuracy benefits probably not really noticeable

Cheers Gaz

 It seems we're going in opposite directions Roger. I started with an HMR Quad (which I love), but want a quieter semi for rabbiting so am about to purchase a 10/22 from Welsh Warrior.

Being able to take free standing rabbiting shots up to ~80 yds with the standard barrel (and rarely missing), I wouldn't personally wish to swap for a heavier barrel.

The overall weight of the rifle was not an issue for me , it was purely accuracy, but as stated by tharsus probably never heats up to notice any difference.

. Any body that has the heavy barrel, did you have to add extra weight in the stock or was it balanced ok?

I have the 22 Quad in synthetic and have yet to have any accuracy problems other than those created by me.:lol:

Had the barrel shortened as well and is still fine. Would suggest that unless you are shooting 1000s of rounds a month, the normal barrel is fine
