fox question

got some chickens a few weeks ago, having them as proper free range, they wander up the pasture and into the wooded dell up the back, had a fox take a chicken 10 days ago, all the other chickens had come back into the run, some had gone to roost, this one was out on its own, late nearly dark, so kind of expected that, so I got a couple of snares and put them up, restricted where I can put those because of the farm stock, anyway, let them out first thing yesterday, the fox must have been about, pegged one while I was having breakfast, so sat out last night near the coop, about 9pm, my first ever attempt to squeek a fox, it came within minutes from behind through the fence at the side at kind of what I would call a fast lope up the pasture, give it a barrel no 4's at about 20-25yds, got it, knocked it sideways, clipped it as it jinked sideways with the second barrel, it went off up the field, I could not get over the fence quick enough to get it again, walked the field but could find no trace, I think perhaps I should have squeeked again to try and stop it before I shot, put that down to inexperiance, first time ever shot at a fox, question is, got some pigeon carcases if I bait and sit out will it come back to give me another shot?

Before you shoot and its running shout at it .. It should stop and look behind witch gives a good few seconds to plant a good few BBs in it forehead I doubt very much it will come back if not dieing some where but just keep an eye out for next time bait up tie it to the fence so it can't run off with it so you can get a good view and gives you more of a chance of getting a good shot :good:

went up the back probably half a mile away to shoot some pigeon, saw another ? fox, looked a darker shade, again doing what I would call a fast lope, out of range, anyway last night put out a couple of carcases in the pasture, didn't tie them down just wanted to see if they went, they did, wasn't going to sit out last night in that rain, so will bait and fasten it down next time I sit out
