Filling a Rapid MkII 400cc bottle

Hi,

I am looking at buying a Rapid MkII at the moment - this would be my first PCP. It it absolutely necessary to fill the bottle from a cylinder or could I use a pump? A friend has no problem using a pump on his S10, but the Theoben website suggests that you should only use filtered compressed air, especially on the larger bottle. I note that some pumps available have an additional filter to stop particulates being fed into the system, or is the problem that you can't build up enough pressure?

Thanks in advance gents,

Not just particulates, but moisture as well.

Been done a lot on here before, a search might reveal some more detail.

Pumps need a good filter system and are hard work. When you look at the price you can pick up a 3lt 300bar bottle for, you have to ask yourself if its worth it.
