fruity
I brim it till it clicks......then keep trying it slowly till it wont take any more (clicks out straight away) repeat when refilling, you must get almost the same amount in as makes no difference the downside of this is looking at the cost of a full tank of fuel these days.... That's how I do mine if I want to check it , seams the most accurate way to me
Fuji Shooter
My FIL just got a new Audi A3, crazy money for what you actually get. He spent nearly 25K on it.
Livefast123
I think the price of new cars has gone through the roof over the last couple of years, or do I have rose tinted specs on. You'll get good service out of any of the 3 you've mentioned. Personally I like VW's although they are expensive to buy initially, we tend to keep them for as many years as they will keep running. My Mrs last Y plate 1.0 Polo had 165,000 on the clock and still sounded fresh before we sold it and my current Mk4 '51 Golf GTi has 200,000 on the clock and that is still tight and runs nicely although fuel economy was never a strong point of this engine! I use Fuelly to keep tabs on my MPG https://www.fuelly.com/ . It's handy to see any changes and you can cringe when you put the AC on (or at least I do when I see 27 MPG when I had it running all the time.) aris
I just sold my 1997 Mk3 GTi - had 140k on the clock, ran fine, but needed more work on it than the car was worth, so I sold it and bough a VW Tiguan. I had the Gti from new and got good value from it - and it was fun to drive. Consumption wasn't toooo bad - 40-45mpg on a motorway run, but was getting worse as it got older. I did drive the thing to the MAX though Even though the new Tiguan has 170HP and all wheel drive, I can get 50mpg out of it if I drive nicely. 35mpg if I put my foot down. njc110381
My choice would be the Golf or the Audi. My mrs drives an Audi S4 and it's lovely, we used to have a Golf 4motion and that was good too. My van is a Ford and my dad has a Fiesta... Both are just a little bit pants in comparison. Ford feels like it's made from old bean tins where as the VAG cars feel solid. That old Golf advert with all the doors shutting sums them up. Slam the door on a Ford and it sounds like you're putting the lid on a galvanised dustbin!

I test drove an Audi, but didn't feel as solid as the VW - you woud think it would be the same though!
