camogun
Shot 2 cushies today towards dusk, both stuffed with ivy berries and a few hawthorn berries.Saw lots more flying to roost with full crops. It looks like pigeons here wont touch rape until all the ivy has been eaten.Because it is so mild the ivy has ripened very early.Small gangs of pigeons all over the area but none on rape. Cranfield
We still have quite a few birds in the woods, but they are starting to feed on the rape in small groups. I try to avoid eating pigeons that have been feeding heavily on ivy berries, as I think it makes their flesh taste bitter.

Highlander
Large numbers of birds around here. I sat and watched some 3-4000 flight into roost one evening last week. Today I've seen 3 large (1000 + birds) flocks. They are all on rape but not decoying at all. Usual early winter scenario, 1 shot and they drift off elsewhere! I could chase them all day Weather today started pretty cold (about -3) and frosty. Almost no wind. Birds just tree sitting and dropping into rape for occassional feed. I've been in exactly the same position Really starting to **** me off now, whats happening with this weather I shot a couple the other night with my airgun after having a go at the tree rats in the afternoon full to the brim of ivy berries and the trees around here are still loaded with berries so it looks like it'll be a while yet Talking to another guy who does alot of pigeon shooting in Wark's area and he said it was October when he last had a go at the Woodies
