Shooting Stephen
People Just bought a 1995 Toyota RAV4 - I drive 15miles to farm and drive maybe 200m off road so I am hoping it will work out. I really wanted a road car with good ground clearance that would fit in my tiny garage - this is 4x4 (bonus) and was cheap (may-be too cheap!) It is a road car (softroader?) so wading depth is 300mm or 500mm driven slowly. I would like to feel a bit more secure at about 600mm so considering a snorkel... Anybody found / engineered / bodged a snorkel for one of these? Thanks Steve Edited September 2, 2013 by Shooting Stephen
Fisherman Mike
I think you will find that above 500mm you will have electrical cut out anyway so don't bother...at least my wifes used to at about 18ins deep. Although it was quite capable in the snow with some thinner tyres on it was Im afraid to say particularly useless in the fields and I had to be towed out by my friendly farm owner on more than one occasion. four-wheel-drive
Have a look on youtube they are surprisingly good off road. I just had a look and found this. Edited September 2, 2013 by four-wheel-drive
andypaint
You'll probably find the air intake is high up in the engine bay anyway. So you won't need a snorkel for that depth of water
HW682
You might find that it floats at 600mm depth.
Ryan gun
If you dont care too much about the car just go for it and they will go through anything my mate has one on his farm and were 15 it gets ragged about and has climbed big muck heaps and gets drove through a big marsh on a track with two foot deep puddles and water splashes. Will try to put a picture up later Atb
