Michaeli
Hi guys. I have been shooting a golf course for a few months now and there is one area that rabbits have hit hard but just behind were there runs and warrens are is a main road so shooting is very limited so it got me thinking about snares Is there anyone on here that fancies a evening out trying to snare a few. We can also shoot the course for a few hours before returning to them. It will have to be done at night but I will see if we can set them up just before dark - about 6-7pm ish and return at about 10pm to check on them / shoot the course. Let me know and if you have any better ideas as I dont know much about snares etc. Thanks Michael
r1steele
You'd probably be better of trying to long net them rather than snaring.
rimfire4969
You might struggle to snare many in your time span, better to set up as early as possible and get back to them early morning. I guess as its a golf course they will have to be removed during the day? Sounds like a good job for ferrets but again needs to be done during the day so might upset a golfer. Longnet could be the thing, never done it but i believe the idea is to get a long net inbetween the rabbits and there holes then walk them back in and hopefully catching in the net. Michaeli
Long net might work but you can only get to one side of the area / warren. I though snares as when i have been there if i walk past the area and then go back 30 mins later they are back out. so no afrade of coming out but due to the road you can always get a shot on them and they shoot straight back into the holes / bushes etc. Times wise it has to be while there is no body on the course 7pm ish till about 6am at the moment. There are alot of difined runs and warens / bolt holes. ferrets are a no again due to having to do it in the day etc. we manage to get the odd one with the air rilfe (sub 12) every now and again. THE MEK
Snaring is a hard thing to get right, If you have no experience.Think you will have better results with a longnet,as snares should be left overnight ideally.
