Sorry if this has been asked before Dom With steel and choke related questions, it is usually a good idea to mention what shot size you will be using, but since you state that 1/2 choke is your choice, you should be fine with any size. Sorry if this has been asked before Dom Its basically what I do with the SX3 (the same gun to most intent and purposes in this case) remember 1/2 in steel shoots like full in lead. For flighting this is spot on, might reduce it even depending on shot size if the birds are expected to be close in high wind or over deeks. Good luck

Good luck Unfortunately,i've never found this to be the case. The limited pattern testing i've done always shows the patterns to be far too open at 40 and 50 yards. This is why i've looked into after market chokes. kent
Unfortunately,i've never found this to be the case. With factory shells I found a Kicks modified to pattern beyond the velocity energy range at which the pellets were truly effective. But yes it certainly improved patterning. There is of course other things that effect patterns and how open or tight they might be at range (like shot cup, slits, forcing cones and heck knows why but even two identical manufactured guns can do different). I shouldn't recommend anyone tried tighter than 1/2 factory with steel on damage grounds but yes I know many have 50yds is too far for me personally with the 12ga and factory steel anyway on Geese Edited September 25, 2013 by kent
