Advice on side by side shotguns

Hi Guys,

I am currently looking for a side by side shotgun, probably 12g but possibly 20g. I have two 12g shotguns already and this is simply just because i really want one. I'm not looking to "invest" in one or spend thousands or even hundreds. Perhaps a couple of hundred.

What i'm really after is just some advice one them. What to buy/avoid/be weary of.

Any help appreciated.

buy a cheap one of the guys on here. I bought a 12g zabala sbs from here for £125 and its a crackin wee gun. I just wanted one to play with. have a look on gun sales or p.m. wabbitbosher or flazz on here.

+1 - I bought a cracker off the Bosher

Cheap Spanish sidelocks have a habit of splitting the timber behind the lock plates. Apart from that just go through the usual checks you would for an O/U.

cheers guys. There is an abundance of cheap ones and a few good looking cheap ones...which is where i'd like to be with mine.

I guess with all types of shotgun, be it o/u or s/s or other, you get some which are hideously expensive. I just started to wonder whether they were cheap because they are troublesome or just cheap because they are old/not the current fashion.

I shot a s/s japanese ejector at my local ground recently which looked like new and had a leather sleeve/pad thing on it to stop you burning your hands and it shot beautifully. Chap said it cost £475 used but it did look mighty nice :)
