Well myself and the brother headed home for the weekend. We made it back in time to get out for the evening flight on the Friday night. 2 mallard came over me about 55 yards up and I managed to pull one of them down with the first shot,(it was just about too high). The brother went 80 yards up the river from me and all the birds seemed to head his way. So he ended the night with a mallard and 2 wigeon. He got landed with the old cocker,(she's got mammary cancer) so he had to pick and choose his shots so did well considering.

Saturday morning I got up at 5,(disgusting hour) and went to the shore. Managed two pinks, a pintail and a teal so almost worth getting up for. The geese never really came my way but managed a couple of long shots which saved the day.

Evening flight was a blank for me and the bro went somewhere else and managed 2 pinks and a wigeon

So all in all it was a fairly successful weekend. Here's a wee pic of the hound with my half of the bag.

Excellent.

Lovely photo and great looking dog! How did he fair up bringing the goose back?

Thanks! She brought them back no bother. Although one of the pinks was closer to a large mallard.

She did get a fair battering on the 1st September by a greylag that was a strong runner though. Fortunately it hasn't put her off much!
