Dave410
I've been away from shooting for a good while now, but still have faith in my Air Arms S410 Carbine. Once its had its serivce and what not I think im going to treat it to a new scope. Since ive had the 410 ive used a cheap SMK scope off an old gun which has done me proud for years, but then again ive never used any other scope so im thinking I probably havent been getting the most out of my Air Arms ? I dont want anything super amazing, just better than what I have now, so hoping for about £100 if its possible ? Will mostly be shooting rabbits and the usual target practice. Any recomendations/opinions would be greatful Thanks in advance, Dave
kennett
Hawke make good scopes, and they aren't expensive at all, you will get a good one for less than £100. I have a Richter optik 3x9x50 with an illuminated reticule on my .22 and that is a good scope for the money. For air rifle ranges you don't need to spend a fortune. Zetter
I would definitely look at the Hawke range you get a lot of scope for the money. I would think an Airmax EV would fit the bill for you nice scope and a little bit of extra field of view in the bargain. The other option if you don't mind second hand is look for something like an MTC Viper I have seen these for about £100. Cheers Neil
moorvale55
I have a Hawke 3 x 9 x 50 AO IR on my HW80k, very pleased with it. It does everything I want it to at air rifle distances and it's in the £100 price area. ATB.
bicykillgaz
Hawke are good scopes, Edgar brothers optimate scopes are very good, secondhand nikon prostaffs are about that money and far better quality. You can get some nice 6x42 scopes for just £20-30 more a meopta 6x42 sold for £125 the other day and I've sold a docter optics 6x42 before for £110 and they have fantastic glass. I guess it depends how much mag you like, me personally I'd be happy with an optimate 6x44 on an air rifle, there perfect on rimfires so more than enough for 30yard targets with an air rifle. fieldwanderer
I always liked simmons for the money - hawke weren't really about when I was into air rifles. I'm quite impressed with the mtc I have (though it should have been over £400 new) Sorry for the hijack, it didn't seem worth starting a new thread; Sometime over the next year or so I'd like to but something a bit more fancy on my .22/250 than the MTC taipan that'll be on there to start with. I'm not interested in illuminated reticle, I suppose either a zoom scope or one with at least 10X mag would be best but I'd like to keep it simple, solid and very good quality. Must also have ballistic turrets - doesn't need to be a massive front lens 44-50mm would do I think as the optics should be brighter. Thing is though, in my opinion there must be manufacturers out there that can keep up with the really expensive brands (swaro, zeiss, leopold, s&b etc) and I'd like to go with them rather than pay for the name - I don't mind spending the money (up to £600 ish, maybe slightly more) if I have to but I don't really want to pay for a name. Any suggestions for brands to look at?

fieldwanderer
Is 3x9x50 the way to go would you say ? Sounds good to me, that should see you quite well into the evening I had a 3-9x on my air rifle for years and it seemed well suited to the job Edited October 12, 2013 by fieldwanderer
