Chris Bb
Apparently Wylye Valley's ceased trading. Damn, I always meant to make the effort and go there, I'm told it was very good. So, use it or lose it. Don't know why it went but a shame all the same.
fruity
How spooky is that , just as you posted regarding wylye , I was reading a section in the clay shooter mag that Ian stones shot the very last clay thrown after its been open for 20 years
JustJon
Really? Always seemed busy, good comps, cpsa, did some of the registered shoots. Very odd.
Wiltsmark
I did hear he was rude to the farmers wife, so the farmer wanted him out. wether its true or not is a different matter. As said it was a very good ground to shoot at. Edited October 20, 2013 by Wiltsmark
Chris Bb
A very good "straw bale" shoot near us closed last year due, allegedly, to the farmer becoming too greedy re rent. So now he's got an empty wood and no income. And we're one more shoot down.

Chris Bb
http://www.wylye-shooting.co.uk/pages/news/ shame........... "They wanted the land for themselves and she wanted somewhere to walk her dogs"? My backside! They're farmers/landowners and in their world only cash counts. There's more to this than meets the eye, there's more profit to be made is the truth. It may take a while to come out, watch this (their) space! Abacist
Solar farms seem to be the most profitable way to use poor ground and will certainly earn more revenue than a shooting ground - mores the pity! Perhaps this is what the farmer really has in mind? I had a couple of lessons at Wylye with Rob Eaton and managed to get to their last registered shoot which had a massive attendance which showed how much respect Ian and his wife had in running a great shoot with great food! dodeer
The ground is used for a large commercial game shoot so could have wanted those steep banks back for presenting quality birds but who knows.. Farmers land = he can do what he wants.
