The turbo impeller has pay in it and the smoke is definitely oil realated as its blue. What should I do buy a secondhand one and risk it buy a rebuild kit and risk not being able to balance it or buy a recon where you exchange your old one. Also looking at fitting a boost gauge so I can sort the optimum safe boost whithout poping the engine. The disco is my daily driver offroader and shooting car. Also the egr valve,cat and mid box have been removed. Whilst im sorting the turbo I will clean the intercooler out aswell. Any help or coments on upgrading would be great. landy george Posted October 22, 2013 Report Share Posted October 22, 2013 Play in the impeller is ok if it's just sidewards, any backwards/forward movement is bad. I'd get a secondhand one with no play, easy fix. Trying to rebuild one is a bit of a risky as they spin up to stupid RPM & if they are not balanced they will eat themselfs. The best place to fit the gauge is just after the return pipe from the intercooler (in the side of the of the inlet manifold) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sounds like the cheapest fix will be as suggested a SH one.
